Our Story
Dan Musick, CPA PLLC was originally founded in 1982 by Sam Cooper, CPA. Sam opened his office in a small building in San Marcos with nothing but a calculator and a chair. Sam owned and operated the Firm until 2004, expanding to Buda along the way. In 2004, Steve Cook, CPA purchased the San Marcos practice and the Firm became known as Cook & Associates. Under Steve’s management, the firm grew to include offices in Austin and San Antonio. In September of 2010, Dan Musick, CPA purchased the San Marcos practice and it became Dan Musick CPA PLLC. The Firm currently serves almost 400 clients across the state of Texas. We have come a long way from “a calculator and a chair” but we never forget that any success that we may achieve depends on our clients.
DMCPA offers a wide range of tax, bookkeeping and accounting, consulting, and payroll services. Through strategic alliances with business partners, we are also able to help our clients find help with financial planning, insurance, banking, and legal services. We believe that what sets DMCPA apart from our competition is our commitment to providing the client with someone who will be on their team and take an interest in their growth and success – as opposed to just being someone like the dentist who they see once a year only because they have to.
Meet the Team
Write something about the people who make your business go or your philosophy behind customer service.
Why? Because people want to know who they're doing business with. It's a human thing.

Nancy Herrington
I am happy to have joined Dan and the staff at Dan Musick, CPA PLLC in January of 2017.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management. While attending UT, I worked part time at Sears, Roebuck and Company at Barton Creek Mall and, after graduating, became a full-time sales manager. I managed several departments in my 15 years at Sears, including Men's and Children's fashions, Shoes, Hardware, Lawn and Garden, Sporting Goods, Paint and the seasonal toy department. I left Sears in 1998 to work at the hardest but most rewarding job that I have ever had - a stay at home mother.
From September of 2005 through December 2016, I worked part time with a small CPA firm in Kyle, TX. I worked as a receptionist, office manager, tax preparer and payroll specialist.
My husband, James, and I have been married since 1992 and have two daughters, Kathryn and Jennifer. Kathryn graduated from Texas Tech University in 2018. Jennifer is currently a student in the nursing program at Texas Tech University set to graduate in December 2019.
